Where all the self-sufficiency experts “grow”.

About us

Who are you?

Here at SelfSufficiency.me, we are a growing group of individuals who have a keen interest in all degrees and aspects of self-sufficiency, from small-scale urban self-sufficiency to larger scale smallholding self-sufficiency.

What do you stand for?

We are firm believers that there is no greater sense of fulfillment to be had than getting stuck in, getting ones hands dirty and enjoying the full fruits of ones own labour. We believe absurd the practise of trading huge quantities of irretrievable time for relatively small quanties of money, solely for purposes of exchanging for goods or services that could be just as adequately (if not more efficiently) provided first-hand, directly for ones self.

At social gatherings, we are the people who struggle (or awkwardly refuse) to answer the common question of “What do you do?”, because contrary to the cornerstone principles of modern western society, it is our belief that intelligent beings with diverse personalities should forego overspecialization in favour of a diverse range of interests, skills and pursuits.

What is the purpose of this blog?

Society is enduring growing turmoil, and as such it isn’t hard to see why a growing number of people are turning to the idea of going self-sufficient, through fear of being too reliant on others to provide basic necessities, and overall security, wellbeing and happiness.

Through this blog, we hope to educate and connect together anyone who is interested in learning of new (and old) ways of going self-sufficient. We do this by posting how-to and news type articles on all different aspects of self-sufficiency. We are also interested in learning new techniques and stories from others, and aim to build a community where all self-sufficiency enthusiasts can learn from each other.
